About Things Done For You, LLC

John learned about building and construction in high school when they had a building and construction program. It was a two year program where the class actually built half a house from the ground up. They built sheds and the school raffled them off. He continued building sheds while working Channel Home Centers and then John took his knowledge and performed various jobs for friends, family and coworkers all while working a full time job at a police department and then for a family logistics firm. He received many recommendations and over the years, the business grew enough that he began doing this full time in 2011. He still maintains some of those same customers from the late 1980s.

John is a wonderful husband and a father to two adult children. He is frequently at local flea markets in his spare time.

**We are a registered Home Improvement Contractor with the State of New Jersey.
Hiring a contractor with a Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) registration is crucial for several reasons:

Consumer Protection: HIC registration ensures that contractors meet certain standards of business practices, financial stability, and technical competence. This helps protect homeowners from unscrupulous or inexperienced contractors who may perform shoddy work, engage in unethical practices, or fail to complete projects on time and within budget.

Legal Compliance: HIC registration indicates that the contractor adheres to state and local regulations governing home improvement projects. This compliance helps avoid potential legal issues, such as disputes over permits, zoning violations, or non-adherence to building codes.

Insurance Coverage: HIC-registered contractors are typically required to carry general liability insurance, worker’s compensation insurance, and sometimes even builder’s risk insurance. This insurance protects homeowners from financial liability in case of accidents, injuries, or property damage during the construction process.

Dispute Resolution: HIC registration provides homeowners with access to dispute resolution mechanisms, such as mediation or arbitration, in case of disagreements with the contractor. These mechanisms can help resolve issues efficiently and avoid costly lawsuits.

Peace of Mind: Hiring an HIC-registered contractor provides peace of mind knowing that you have engaged a qualified and reputable professional who is committed to quality workmanship, ethical practices, and legal compliance. This can alleviate stress and anxiety associated with home improvement projects.

Support and Resources: HIC registrants often have access to support and resources from state licensing boards and industry associations. These resources can provide valuable guidance on various aspects of home improvement projects, including contract drafting, insurance requirements, and dispute resolution procedures.
